Today, our Funday Monday Adventure takes us to the Wildlife Learning Center and Sanctuary, home to more than 50 native and exotic species of animals and reptiles from all around the world.
Just a stone’s throw away from the 210 freeway on Yarnell St and tucked quietly into a residential neighborhood, we find ourselves a world away beneath the vivid green canopy of a tropical rainforest.
Seriously… right here in Sylmar, Ca… Wow!
From Bald Eagles and Red Tail Hawks to Marmosets, Red Foxes to Ringtail Lemurs, the Wildlife Learning Center has surprises around every corner.
From American Alligators and fifteen-foot Pythons to Gigantic Desert Tortoises, the Wildlife Learning Center prides itself on the rescue and rehabilitation of all different species.
The Wildlife Sanctuary is also the permanent home to those species unable to be returned to the wild.
As the largest children’s outreach program in Southern California, we watched as one of their owls climbed onto a volunteer’s leather arm glove and headed out for a presentation at a local elementary school.
It was so much fun spending the morning strolling through the many paths and viewing all of the magnificent animals.
Happy Funday Monday to all, stay safe.
