Making Crafty Fall Signs is so quick, easy and fun.
I got a crazy urge to be crafty the other day, so naturally, the first thing I did was drive myself over to Hobby Lobby. It’s the perfect place to get inspired, especially this time of year. After wandering the over-stuffed, half-price Fall isles looking for things to paint, I came across these wooden signs right next to pretty paper sunflowers, and BOOM, an idea was born. Follow along as I show you how I made these beautiful crafty Fall signs.
After gathering various fall leaves, acorns, mini pine cones and flowers, I brought it all home and laid it out. The plan was to make something with a Fall saying like thankful or blessed and have a little bouquet glued together under the words. I wanted to make my own arrangement by cutting the foliage I bought and arranging it myself.
Step 1
Painting for Crafty Fall Signs
I figured I would make one mess at a time, so I laid out all the wooden products I bought and painted them. The large pumpkin I kept pretty simple since it’s just a backdrop for the leaves and flowers. The words were simple as well, a few white and a few gold. I did take some time with the acorns and gave them a warm brown base and textured the top, so they were a little more realistic.
Step 2
Arranging the Bouquet for Crafty Fall Signs
Once the painting portion was done, I plugged in the hot glue gun and grabbed a pair of scissors and wire cutters. This is where it got fun! I began by picking a flower or a couple of flowers, depending on size, to use as the main focus. Before doing any gluing, I arranged the leaves and flowers, moving things around until I liked them. You can do this right on the wood board or the table next to it. I recommend placing the wood writing on the board when you do this so you can see how things will fall and make sure there’s enough room for the word. Then carefully deconstructed it off to the side and, piece by piece, glued it down, adding the main flower at the end.
The project itself is pretty simple and can be modified in many ways to your preferences. You can customize the flowers and colors to match your fall decor. I decorated the wooden pumpkin in the same way and it turned out just as beautiful as the hanging signs. I hope you enjoyed this little project. Let us know if you tried it and how it turned out. Here are the signs I put together.
